Do I need planning permission for a driveway in Bristol?
Usually not. If the surface is permeable, such as resin-bound or gravel, or if water drains to a border or lawn rather than the road, permission is not normally needed. Non-permeable surfaces over five square metres can need it. We check this at the survey and handle the paperwork where it applies.
Do I need a dropped kerb, and who arranges it?
If you are creating a new access across a pavement you will need a dropped kerb approved by the council. It is a separate application from the driveway itself. We will tell you at the survey whether you need one and point you at the right process.
